Eastern Oregon Business Source hires second School to Careers Coordinator

Pendleton, Oregon: Eastern Oregon Business Source recently hired Jane Waldher as a School to Careers Coordinator for the Pendleton School District. The School to Careers program is expanding for the 2018-2019 school year. Jane joins Christina van der Kamp who is currently the School to Careers Coordinator for Pendleton High School, and also is involved with the School to Careers program at Pilot Rock School District, and Athena-Weston School District.

Jane has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from Colorado State University and worked a number of years for the JR Simplot Company in Boise Idaho. She also has extensive experience working with youth, in both the non-profit sector, and in education. In the non-profit sector, she worked as the Millennials Grant Director for Northwest Learning Achievement, and as a Coach and Area Director for Girls on the Run. More recently she has been a substitute teacher for the Athena-Weston and Pendleton School Districts, a Umatilla County 4-H leader, and the President of Partners in Education—all while also being a stay at home mom. Jane is excited to re-enter the workforce and help Pendleton High School Students connect with local and regional employers.

The School to Careers program aims to connect high school students to career related learning experiences. These experiences include everything from classroom speakers to work site tours to semester-long internship at regional businesses. The goals of this program are twofold: to help students succeed in school and after graduation by giving them a way to explore career interests and build connections to the community; and, also to help local business and industry develop a “home- grown” work force that meets it needs.
