Eastern Oregon Career Summit

The Eastern Oregon Career Summit is being held at the Pendleton Convention Center from 12:00pm – 6:30pm. Elkhorn Media is the title sponsor. The event is also sponsored by, WorkSource Eastern Oregon, Umatilla County, The Pendleton Chamber of Commerce, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce, and Eastern Oregon Business Source. Representatives from WorkSource Eastern Oregon, the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce, and Eastern Oregon Business Source planned the Eastern Oregon Career Summit as a part of the Pendleton School to Careers program.

The Eastern Oregon Career Summit, a morning with several guest speakers, will coincide with career day at Pendleton High School, which is being held in the morning of October 23. Students from Pilot Rock, Nixyaawii, and Weston-McEwen high schools will also attend Pendleton’s career day. All other regional high schools have been invited to the Eastern Oregon Career Summit, making it the best place in Eastern Oregon to have access to the next generation of the workforce.

To complement the usual employer booths common at a job fair, there will also be a number of breakout sessions taught by workforce development professionals— some aimed at job seekers, and some aimed at employers. Sessions designed for employers include: multiple generations in the workplace, becoming an employer of choice, and 2nd chance. Sessions created for job seekers will cover interviewing, social media, and a session by a nationally certified work ethic trainer using the “Bring your ‘A’ Game” work ethic curriculum.
